Searching for parents of Moses Black of Rutherford County NC. Moses was born about 1770-80 in North Carolina (Old Tryon/Old Rutherford) and apparently lived much of his life in Rutherford County, N.C. The date and place of death/burial as well as date of marriage are unknown. The USGenWeb Archives list him on the North Carolina militia muster rolls of the War of 1812 (7th Regiment, Rutherford County, Second Company, Capt. Abraham Irvin). Some secondary sources within the family indicate the name of Moses' wife was Patience Condrey or Condrie. Moses appears in the 1810 Rutherford County Census but is not listed for 1800. He also appears in the 1820 and 1830 Rutherford Census. Probable children: James, Rachel Jane, Rhoda, Polly, plus one other daughter and one other son of unknown name. Probable sibling: Laban, who reportedly migrated to Arkansas in the early 1800s. The 1830 Census indicates both Moses and Patience were born between 1770 and 1780. In a later Census, James indicates both of his parents were born in North Carolina.
