A note on this worth mentioning is that births late in the 1800s or before 1913 are sometimes recorded as 'delayed certificates of birth' from bible records or personal testimony with supporting records. My father was born in 1909 and his 'delayed certificate of birth' was in the records at the Rutherford County courthouse recorded on the evidence of a bible record and an affadavit by his mother. Keep looking!
