I am a direct descendent as well, thru son James Graham, Erastus, Lem, Mike.
Bartley was born around 1799 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He died between 1867-1870. My brother has a document that has his name on it from 1867, but he is not listed on the census in 1870. There is a Wilson Township in Faulkner County, Arkansas that we think is named after him.
I have contacted our county's museum in trying to locate his grave site, but have not heard back yet. I drive thru the area where he lived when he moved to Arkansas occasionally, and a drive this past week spurred my interest again.
A cousin has done a family study, and a pretty good timeline for James Graham's service in the Confederate Army that is pretty interesting. A couple of years ago there was a service bestowing a medal on him that was never given at the time, I guess because the South wasn't in the place to at the end of the war. I believe the medal is now in the military museum at Jacksonville, Arkansas.
I'm sorry, that's not what you were looking for, it it? I would love to know his parents names as well if you find them. Happy hunting!
