Mode Y-DNA testing started

To all Mode researchers:

A proven legitimate male descendant of Isaac Mode & Anna White of Rutherford Co., NC is submitting his Y-DNA sample for testing. The Y chromosome is passed almost unchanged from father to son. If all goes well the first results should be known by mid-to-late August. He will test at a level for the range necessary to prove the ancestral lines for at least 6-8 generations and results will include the haplogroup.

The testing is being done through FamilyTreeDNA and is under the Western North Carolina project. Presently, he is the ONLY known Mode ever to be tested. Now is the time to join in for testing as his results will probably start arriving by mid-August.

This Mode is a direct-line male descendant of William Mode born circa 1755 died 1810 Rutherford Co., NC through his son, Isaac Mode, born circa 1785 died circa 1815; and grandson, James White Mode b. 9 Sep 1812-1813 d. 13 Oct 1900. This has been verified as true male direct-lineage.

This is real EXCITEMENT for the Mode family. But it could be even more exciting and rewarding for others to start testing as well.

I am a descendant of Samuel Mode & Lavinia White. Samuel is believed to be the son of William Mode & Sarah Parker; and William could be a brother to Isaac Mode. There are many Mode males who could help prove this line by being tested for Y-DNA.

News regarding the families who went west from North Carolina to Oregon and other areas. If you are connected to Aris (Arris, Aras, Airy, Airry, Annie and other variations) Mode and particularly to her son, Summey (Bryson Summey) Mode -- you will be interested to know that the family of John William Mode (son of Samuel Mode & Lavinia White) is related to Aris Mode's family and proven by their living descendants living in Oregon.

For further information on Y-DNA or mtDNA testing or sharing of information on Mode and related families, please contact me.
