John Thomas Taylor, born Nov 11, 1844

John Thomas Taylor was born in Rutherford County Nov 11, 1844. In 1869 in Madison County, NC he married Lydia J. Scoggins. Lydia was born in Rutherford County and is the daughter of Joseph J. and Elvira Scoggins. They appear in the 1850 Census.
There is a possibility that the Thomas Taylor in the 1850 Census in Montfords Cove with Mary, Susannah and Francis Taylor is my Great-grandfather John Thomas Taylor. The Thomas in the census is five which would be correct for one born in November 1844.
I have recently received information that Mary and Susannah have children outside of marriage. Could John Thomas Taylor also be born outside of marriage?

On the other hand, I have received information that my Taylor family is from five brothers who came from the British Islands. Does anyone have any record of five Taylor brothers coming from the British Islands and one of which ended up in western North Carolina by the mid 1800's?

I have done a Y-DNA test and the Haplogroup is R1a1 and this does not closely match anyone in the Family Tree DNA Taylor Group.

Can anyone help me with this brickwall?
