Hi Wade, I was unable to read your email address, so I hope you see this reply. I am also a ggrandaughter of Charles Henry and Mary Jane(Jennie)Krause. My grand father is W. Henry Krause, the oldest son of C. H and Mary Jane. W. Henry married Florence Harrill, My mother is their daughter, Una Lee Krause.I have never heard the story about Hiram's father killing a man in Germany. I have Hiram's father as Dr. H. Charles L. Krause (born 1786 in Germany, died 1848 in S.C. buried at Brittain Presbyterian Church in Rutherford County. He brought his family to America because he wanted his sons to be able to own property, a priviledge almost impossible in Germany at that time. They came here sometime before 1837. He was married twice in Germany. His last wife,Mary Elizabeth, apparently was quite a bit younger than he, so the first wife must have been the mother of the older children, with the youngest,Pinkney Wilson probably being Mary's. I have his children as Charles Fredrick, Henry Herman, Fredrick Willaim, John Willaim, Bartha Ann, Pinkney Wilson. We have never been able to acurately place Hiram in the family, but I notice that you have him as Henry Hiram, which fits my theory that Hiram is the son we have as Henry Herman. It seems that after old Dr. Krause's death, the young wife went with the four younger children on a wagon train west where they settled in Missouri and Arkansas, having descendents there still. The youngest son Pinkney died of measles in a Union prison camp during the Civil War.
Wade , my email is blueridgepam@yahoo.com. I hope you will get in touch and we can trade further info.
