I must prove to the DAR that Charles Taylor, son of Arthur and Celia Taylor of Rutherford to Anson to Buncombe by 1810 was the father of Joseph Taylor of the same location through documented evidence. Charles died about 1844 Buncombe/Henderson Counties. They will not accept the Heritage book article that states this.Charles married Elizabeth Potts in Rutherford in 1788. He was living next door to his mother Celia in the 1790 census for Rutherford. By 1800, he had migrated to Anson County. By 1820, he had migrated back to Buncombe.
His son Joseph b. 1810 ,married an older cousin Mary Taylor, daughter of John and Mary Tayor of Sycamore, Buncombe County. She had 2 sons prior to the marriage: Terrell Wilkie who was the sheriff for Henderson County and Noah who travelled west in the 1800's. Joseph and Mary had the following: John David who married Elizabeth Stepp, Mary who married Pulaski Brock, Elizabeth who married Charles Morris, my Martha who married Green Berry Sanders, Rev Benjamin Merritt who had several wives, James and Jeremiah.
If any descendant of this family has documented information on this Taylor family, will you please share.
I have contacted the NC Archives and they said that I would have to come up and search through their records. I am an elderly person and cannot travel great distances anymore. Thank you so much for sharing.
