In answer to your question regarding the identity of Johanna Sims (1761-1852), she was the wife of James Owenby (1761-1850) and daughter of William Sims (1732-c1797) of Orange/Albemarle County, VA and his second wife Agatha Stapp (1737-c1812). William Sims had married first to Agatha's sister Anester Stapp on 6 Aug 1751 in Orange County, VA and after her death c1759 after the birth of her fourth child, William Sims married Agatha Stapp on 2 Feb 1761, also in Orange County, VA. William Sims had an additional ten children by this second marriage. Both Anester and Agatha Stapp were children of Joshua Stapp (c1692-1783) and his wife Martha Coffey (c1702-c1777). William Sims was a son of Richard Sims (c1705-c1746) and his wife Johanna _____.
This Sims family lived in the Orange and Albemarle County area of Virginia. Lucy Sims (1758-1823), one of the daughters of William Sims by his first wife Anester Stapp, married John Dalton abt 1779 in Albemarle County, VA and moved shortly thereafter to Rutherford County, NC. Her sister Johanna Sims was married to James Owenby in Orange County, VA on 4 Mar 1785 and moved shortly thereafter also to Rutherford County, NC. There is no known association of the William Sims above (father of Johanna (Sims) Owenby and Lucy (Sims) Dalton) and the Sims families of Brunswick County, VA.
Hope this helps.
