Are these Webbs connected to Tyrell Webbs?

Any connection between the Webbs of Rutherford County and these of Tyrell?

Subject: Webbs in Tyrell / Nathanael, Robert, Harmon, Isham, John

Webb, Harmon
Venters, Rebeca
5 Feb 1796
Daniel Legitt;
(w) S. Chesson

Webb, Robert
Devenport, Ann
18 Apr 1767
Rob(er)t Ward;
(w) Fr. Ward;
(w) Fr. Ward, Junr.

Webb, William-x-
Arrington, Polly
(of Perquimans Co.)
16 Jul 1815
Abell-x-Cohoon;
(w) James Hoskins, clk.

Tyrell County, N.C., Bertie County, N.C., and Northampton, N.C., were once all together. Look at the Webb names above from Tyrell County. Is there a connection between them and the Webbs of Surry/Sussex/Brunswick/Southampton, Va.??

Now note the names below from the Albemarle Parish records of Virginia. Note the Nathanael Webb born in 1740 to Robert and Eliza. We presume this to be Robert Webb, Jr. and Elizabeth Judkins. But why didn't Robert mention Nathaniel in his will? He mentioned son Hermon, which is a variation of Harmon. The name appears as Harmon in the Parish records. Here they are:

Nathanael Webb, son of Robert and Eliza.

born Nov. 30, 1740.

Gpts: Robt. Land, Edward Shelton, Mary Webb

Harmon Webb, son of Robert and Eliza Webb

born September 23, 1752

Gdpts: Charles Judkins, James Carter, Mary Judkins

Now look at the will of Nathaniel Webb in Tyrell County. Is this what happened to the Nathaniel Webb of the Albemarle Parish records? Did he remove to Tyrell County, N.C.? Who would have been his children there and would their names be connected to the family back in Surry?

WEBB, NATHANIEL

Tyrrell County
Book 1, page 144
Dated 30 December 1784

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

State North Carolina

Tyrrell County

In the name of God amen: I Nathaniel Webb of the county and state aforesaid being very sick and weak in body but of sound disposing mind & memory thanks be given to Almighty God for the same do this thirtyeth day of December one thousand seven hundred and eighty four make and ordain this to be and contain my last Will and Testament in manner and form following Viz:

Imprimis - I give and bequeath unto John Webb son of Robert Webb one piece or parcel of land on the East side Welches Creek beginning at the center of three pines in his own line running thence due west from thence to Welches Creek it joining the lower end of his land unto him and his heirs forever.

Item - I give and bequeath unto Harmon Webb son of John Webb the remainder of all my lands and Plantation on the said East side Welches Creek unto him and his heirs forever-

Item - I give and bequeath all my wearing apparel unto Harmon Webb son of John Webb unto him and his heirs forever -

Item - I give and bequeath unto Capt. William Earl all that he owes me unto him and his heirs forever.

And last of all I do constitute nominate and appoint Harmon Webb son of John Webb my sole Executor constituting this and no other to be and contain my last Will & Testament in the presence the subscribers who at my request doth subscribe themselves witnesses hereunto.

Signed Sealed Published pronounced and declared by the Testator to be & contain his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request have subscribed our names.

O.K. So you saw some familiar names. Nathaniel had a son named Robert Webb who had a son named John Webb.

Nathaniel also appears to have a son named John Webb who has a son named Harmon! Now read the will of Robert Webb in Tyrell. This is probably not the Robert Webb that married the Davenport above, unless it was a second marriage.

WEBB, ROBERT

John (his -x- mark) Seals
John (his -x- mark) Land

Recorded June 20th 1772 by
Fr. Ward Clerk

Robert mentions his son John Webb. He mentions good friends Nathaniel Webb and Isham Webb. They weren't his sons or grandsons -- probably cousins descended from the older Nathaniel Webb.

Now note two other names -- Francis Ward and John Land.

Is this the Francis Ward who married Sarah the daughter of Robert Webb, Jr.?

Sarah Webb, daughter of Robert and Eliza Webb.

born March 10, 1754.

Gpts: Levi Gilliam, Mary Judkins, Mary Lofting

Finally, note the John Land. Read again the parish record below and note the Land name.

Nathanael Webb, son of Robert and Eliza.

born Nov. 30, 1740.

Gpts: Robt. Land, Edward Shelton, Mary Webb

Robert Land was probably an uncle to Nathanael Webb. We know he was married to Mary Carter Webb. John Webb Land came of this line. Who is this John Land?

Some of you are good thinkers and do well in putting things together and asking questions. Any thoughts?
