The church was organized by settlers who came to this area of Rutherford County. An article about the history of the church says that they came from the Gettysburg area. Elders were Samuel Andrews, James Mitchell and Samuel Reid. The minister was Rev. Daniel Thatcher. Other families were Long, Watson, McFarland, Thompson, Smart, Carson, Gettys, Guffey, Porter, Morrison, Erwin, Groves, Flack, Alexander, hampton, Logan, Forney, Young, Nabors and Montieth.
