My wife's mother was a Rhodes of Polk Co, She descended from a Jesse Rhodes found in Rutherford and Polk Co., NC. Jesse was bc 1800 and setteled north west of present day Tryon, NC.

His mother appears to have been Celia ? and apparently his father was a John Roads/Rhodes.

Do you have anything with any of these names in your files.
