Hi Oveta,

I am not directly related to the Cooper family, but my great grandfather's first wife was named Catherine Cooper. I am trying, with another cousin who is from this first marriage, to locate the parents of Catherine Cooper who married Greenberry Padgett in Rutherford County, North Carolina. This couple lived in the High Shoals area, near Ellenboro-Cliffside, which is not far from the South Carolina border.

If you have information on the lines of Coopers in that area in early to mid 1800's [think Catherine died between 1850-60 without checking my notes], please e-mail me directly. Many thanks.

p.s. May have a Butler line not related to the Padgett-Cooper. Will have to check.
