I am looking for information, and hopefully documents, concerning Patrick McGuire(1740-1834) and his son Richard Mcguire (1787-after 1860).

Patrick imigrated from Dublin Ireland to Charles Towne (Charleston SC) in 1764 and was given about 200 acres of land in Rowan County. Patrick joined the NC Continental Line, in Rowan County, in 1780. Patrick was a shoemaker by trade. He served in the Continental Army till he was captured by the British at the battle of Camden SC. Previous to that he fought at the Battle of Ramseur's mill in NC. After the Revolutionary War he also served in the Indian wars for about two years. Patrick applied for and received a Revolutionary War pension. He received one payment before he died some time before June 24 1834.

Richard moved to Ashe County some time before 1830. He shows up on the 1830 Ashe Census. Richard was the father of Robert T. McGuire (1821-1886). Richard's first wife was Nancy Church, the mother of Robert T. Richard's second wife was Fanny Church.

Patrick McGuire is my 4th Great-Grandfather. I am trying to compile suffecient documentation linking Patrick McGuire to Richard McGuire and Richard to Robert T. McGuire in order to join the Sons of the American Revolution.

One of Patrick's Great-Grandsons, Felix P. McGuire (my Great-Grandfather) also served in the military. He enlisted in Company B (Ashe County) 65th NC Troops (6th NC Cavalry CSA)in 1864. I am a retired US Air Force MSgt.
