Mary,

I found the coroners reports for SC at the SC Archives in Columbia, SC. I was looking for one on my g-grandfather, Thomas Alexander Strickland for around 1900, which I did not find but I did find one on my Great-Uncle Henry Brigman killed in a mill fight in McColl, SC in 1906. You might want to try the NC Archives in Raleigh, NC.
