Jean, The surviving marriages for early Richmond County are found at http://home.att.net/~hbridges/richcomarrrecs.htm . Most of the losses are due to poor storage. There are records at the Leath Library in Rockingham on microfilm, but I'm fairly certain that they duplicate the list above. There were some early marriages thet took place in neighboring Montgomery County, but Montgomery County lost all of their records from 1779 to 1838 when their court house burned.
