Marriage records in the 1830's in Richmond County

I am trying to find marriage records for the early 1830's in Richmond County, I'm estimating about 1832 or so. In looking at the NC Index, it doesn't appear that any show up for Richmond County for the early to maybe late 30's. Does anyone know if there was a fire or something for those years marriage records? I can prove the marriage through estate records, etc., but I was just curious if in fact there was a fire or what happened to those records. Thank you in advance. Jean
