I do not know if Daniel HIcks and wife, Sara had a son named James. This is what I am trying to find out. There were two Daniel Hicks on the 1790 census of Cheraw Dist, both with families. I think I posted the numbers of males and females of the two households on a previous message. As far as Daniel Hicks being in the Rev. War... yes, he was , according to Gregg's "HISTORY OF THE OLD CHERAWS". There was also another Daniel Hicks serving in the Rev. War who later moved back to Brusnwick Co., VA, the area of the early Hicks family, and he filed for his pension up there. There were several generatons of HIcks in the Chesterfield/Marlboro area, and the name Daniel was used often. It is quite a chore to try to seperate them.
Sarah's first husband died in 1781, so any children she had with Daniel would have come after that date.
I also found where the orphans of a Daniel Hicks were being looked after by a Wm. Wall, (also a Rev. War veteran) and it was recorded across the state line in Richmond Co.,NC. Several records , including marriages, of early Cheraw Dist. folks were recorded in Anson/Richmond Co.,NC. I have not discovered the reason for this yet.
Do you have any other information on James HIcks?

Joanne H.
