about: The "New" Polk County Historical Association Posted by: PJ Canfield (ID *****9162) Date: December 09, 2008 at 18:56:06 of 343 Hello, I noticed that most of your questions have not been answered..Perhaps this post can enlighten you folks a bit. I live about one half mile from the new location of the Polk County Historical Association/Museum. It has moved from Tryon , North Carolina to Columbus, N.C., which is the county seat for Polk County. The Museum, Association has not finished moving into the new location, and no one was there to answer the door this afternoon, when I went to inquire about it. They certainly will have more room than the old train depot which served location for many years. The new location is on South Walker Street, Columbus,N.C. and I DID call today but got an answer machine. I left a message to please call me back as I would like to post a link on this site for you people or at least put the new phone number on here for you people to be able to call them at your will. As listed in our Polk County phone book you can at least get a message machine at this number until further notice: (828) 859-3351 or (828) 859-2287. I live like I stated one half mile from there. I will try to do look ups for you. I believe our local Library (Polk Library) will have the cemetery book that some of you have mentioned. I DO know that the museum has one but they keep it there for references.. Let me know if you need something. Right across the street and down one building is the town offices and court house which holds lots of land deeds and surveys and such things.. PJ Canfield (HOPE THIS HELPS YOU, EDWIN!)
