I wonder if any one on this site can help me with a little conflicting data I have on Thomas Newman. I believe Thomas was b 1839 in Rutherford County, NC. A son of William Newman b 1788 Fairfield County, SC, d 2 March 1880 and Delilah Ellison/Allison b 1796 in Rutherford County, NC, d 3 April 1889 in Henderson County, NC. I have her buried in the Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Polk County, NC. The conflict I have with Thomas are, I have a note that he died in the Civil War (1860-1865) but I have other genealogist that having his death much later. Thomas was married to Charity Holbert b 1838, daughter of Benjamin Holbert and Charity Stover. I have their marriage as 8 May 1861. I also have a child of theirs as Jackson C Newman b 20 Oct 1874. Charity later, 26 Feb 1868 married Ransom Foster b about 1847. This would led me to think that may be Thomas may have died in the Civil War. Could someone help me correct these errors.
