looking for info on the parents of Thomas Calaway Smith (1837-1895). Thomas and his wife "Jane" lived on 200 acres on the west bank of Henson's Creek in the Green Creek section of Polk county. Jane died about 1879 and Thomas remarried to Sarah Ann Lancaster in 1883. Their marriage record lists Thomas's parents as William and Elizabeth Smith. Elizabeth is listed in the 1870 Polk census in Thomas's household along with Thomas's sisters Elvira(1855) and Margaret(1859).I suppose his father William died between 1860 and 1869. Here are some of Calaway's descendants:

1) William Miller Smith 1869-1940 (Martha Donnahoo)
2) Mary Elizabeth Smith "Aunt sissy" 1871-1960 (Peter amaziah Henderson)
3)Texanna Smith 1875-? (died young?)

3)Otis Calaway Smith 1888-1944 ( Flossie Tate)
