An original Pitt County NC will from 1845 is at auction on eBay, closing tomorrow (item #160402458425).

The will names children and grandchildren, and names slaves divided to children that could also be useful in African American heritage quests.

The testator is Dorothea Anne Evans; the date in 10 November 1845.

Descendants listed (with slaves granted in parentheses) include:

Augustus C. Evans (none)
Stephen B. Evans (John and Solomon)
Julius A. Evans (Moses and Abel)
Paulina E. Evans (Albert and Hanah [sic])
Julia Evans Hooker, wife of Nathan Hooker (none)

She also left a slave to her grandson, Glaucus Olds (Austin)
and a slave to her grandson Richard Evans, son of Augustus C. Evans (Saringo [sp?]).

The executor idetified was Lewis P. Olds, Esq. (perhaps father of Glaucus Olds; mother another daughter?).

Witnesses were Thomas E. Nelson and John Mansfield.
