Revolutionary War veteran James Purvis

I need information on James Purvis who entered the service from Pitt County, NC, in about 1769. He later served substitute enlistments for his brothers William and Lewis. After the war he married Rhodea Roberts in Johnston County, NC. The family migrated to Tennessee about 1802 and to Pulaski County, KY, about 1810 where he died about 1840.
He had a large family including sons Calvin, William, John, Jesse, Alfred,
and James. These sons married and scattered to nearby counties in KY and to Indiana. Any help will be welcomed.
