NICHOLS & WINDHAM-Pitt Co to Sumter Co, SC

Seek information on RWS JOEL NICHOLS was born ca 1749 and entered service in Pitt Co, NC. (He later moved to Johnston Co, NC and probably died there.) I suspect Joel may be father or brother to my RUEBEN NICHOLS and Rueben's brother JONATHAN NICHOLS and sister BERSHABA, who are mentioned in deeds of Pitt and all went to Sumter Co, SC (between 1784 and 1790?).

Also seeking the families mentioned in this deed:
May 1766 JOHN WINDOM..(from Pitt Co.) "in consideration of love, good will and affection which I have for my grandson JOHN NICHOLS (of Pitt co.)", have given 100 acres of land in Pitt Co., on Coneta Creek including the plantation that William Nichols formerly lived on. Likewise my daughter JEAN NICHJOLS can stay on the land for her lifetime. Signed: by John and Elizabeth Windom, Witnessed by James May, Nathan Mayo, and David Hathaway. Pitt Co., NC Deed C321

Names of Nichols' who turned up in Sumter Co, SC are:
WILLIAM, JONATHAN, RUEBEN, MIAL & RACHEL, NOAH, SARAH, JEAN, BENJAMIN & CATHERINE, and others, as well as the WINDHAM/WINDOM families.

My Rueben Nichols (born ca 1760?) named his first son Joel. It appears that his brother Jonathan also named a son Joel. I would like to work with anyone who is trying to (or has!) sorted out the Nichols and Windham families of Pitt.

Thanks,
Marj
