The Person County Will Books did include some of the Tax Records, which is what you have come across. Katharine Kerr Kendall mentioned these some years ago when she abstracted the records for her book "Person County North Carolina Compilations...". Some of the North Carolina Counties were unique in the way they used their will books, they used them to record everything from land & court records, to marriage, guardian and bastardy bonds, as well as an actual will. That's why having these Probate Records and County Records, are some very valuable sources of research, there are all kinds of unexpected little goodies in them, if one takes the time to go through them.
