If you get into the Whitfield Family Geneology Forum here on genforum, do a search on "Person Co., NC' .. you will find a discussion of several Whitfields in that area during the late 1700's, early 1800's .. including discussion of the Whitfield Cemetery. I am g-g-granddaughter of Dianah Rimmer Clinkingbeard, daughter of John?William? Rimmer and Mary (Polly) Whitfield Rimmer, looking for data on Whitfields.
