There will not be a death certificate for W. C. Mott if he died between 1870-1880. North Carolina did not start keeping death certificates until 1916 and birth certificates until 1912.

I found the following but not sure it is your Mary. This would put her birth at 1791; The above census record would put her birth at 1810;

#1423 Mott: Died In this city, of pneumonia, on the 1st of May, Mrs. Mary Mott, aged 75 years. Funeral will be from the Fifth Street M. E. Church on Thursday, May 3rd, at 9 o'clock A.M.; Daily Wilmington Dispatch Wed 2 May 1866, Daily Journal & Weekly Journal Thur 3 May 1866.
