My name is James Walker. I descend from the William Walker/Edward D.(Decoin)Sr. Walker line from the area of "Wards Corner" in Pender Co. I understand your frustration concerning Samuel V. Walker. I took the DNA test and have not matched any Walker's except my Dad and a fourth cousin who took the test. I have matched several other surnames as well as my cousin. The importatant thing is the test verified the paper trail my cousin and I had. Since your test did not match mine, I can assume that Samuel V. is not related to my Walker's. I have tried to find a connection with him for years with my family, Robert Walker's line and other's from that area. I believe that Edward D. Walker's wife(Ann Mariah Gufford or Branch) was related to your line. There are a couple of land transactions between her after Edward's death with some of them. I also seem to think that there was a sale from Edward D. to Samuel or Vinson Walker in the 1820s. If you visit the New hanover public library you can find lots of early realestate conveyances on microfilm. It is ironic that I had, and still have slight doubts as to wether Edward D. is really William Walker's son, eventhough he is mentioned in William's will in 1807. Dna is a great tool if you can find and GET the right people to participate. I have an Aunt (by marriage) who I believe is descended from your line. I think her g. grandfather was Moses Walker. Her Father and Grandfather were Matthew and Thomas or vise versa. Anyway we are probably cousins because I also descend from Jacob Wells on my Grandmothers side. Good luck.
