James, my Corbett line comes from Pitt Co., NC..more specifically from the Falkland area of Pitt. My Kinchen Corbett was my ggrandmother's father, his father was Meredith Corbett. Kinchen's brother was Allen Corbett, the father of the young Kinchen and Mary Frances "Fannie" Corbett that I am researching.(Obviously, Allen named his son after his brother). In the research that I have conducted, I have found that my Kinchen had another daughter that I did not know about...perhaps the same is true for Allen and his wife, Betsy. In the 1880 NC census for Pender Co. , there is a Kinchen Corbett living with his brother, John Corbett...I have sound the name John Corbett in dealings with my Corbett line but have been unable to "connect the dots"..my Corbett line seems to have been on the go quite alot...wondering if John Corbett was in Pitt Co. and move to Pender Co and if this Kinchen Corbett in his home is the son of Allen and Betsy...the birthdate for Allen's son, Kinchen is 1854-1856 so the young man in the census is the right age...bottom line is this, where did your Corbett line originate and do you know if they have Pitt Co. roots...thanks!
