I can't give exact boundaries for the First District of Orange Co. in the 1850 Census, but it consisted of almost all the county except for the extreme northwest corner (later Cedar Grove Twp.), which was called the North West Division, and the town of Hillsborough and its immediate environs. To give you an idea of how much of the county it covered, the First District was listed in 243 census pages, the North West Division was listed in 32 pages, and Hillsborough in 14 pages.
