My ancestor James Lawson b.1757 in Ireland married Jurutha Parker b.1775 24 Aug. 1804 in Orange County,N.C. She had a son Shadrack b.1797. Somewhere between 1797 and 1804 Jurutha's husband died. One web site claimed that her husband's name was Shadrack and that her maiden name was Hardin. In the 1800 Orange County census the only Parker with a wife the right age and a male the right age of Shadrack was Amoss Parker with 3 males age 0-10. This led me to wonder if there was an epidemic at that time that could have claimed the lives of Jurutha's husband as well as 2 out of 3 children? Obviously I have no proof yet that Jurutha was married to Amoss but I also cannot find evidence of an appropriately aged Shadrack Parker in the Census of that time. I would appreciate anyone's thoughts and assistance in tracing down Jurutha's husband.
