Sandy: Sorry can't help you. My David arrived Montgomery County Tn abt 1802. M Catherine Allison from Marlboro County S.C. Lived out his life in Montgomery. D 1838 They had 10 children. None named William. I think my David was off of Richard Davis of Granville County N.C.,( possibly off of Richard's grandson, Absolom Davis b abt 1752). Absolom, son of Solomon Davis sold land and slaves in Granville in 1827-8 and moved to Montgomery when in his seventies and died there in 1832. Solomon Davis's grandson from Granville also migrated to Montgomery and administered my David Davis's estate. The David Davis in the 1800 Orange County census is the right age and right family size and is not there in 1810.I have not been able to make any connections between these Davises and have just blown $700.00 on an Archives recomended geneologist out of Raleigh who attempted to do so for me.Again, I don't think our Davises are connected but keep looking.
