I have a page from a publication I can't identify which I inherited from the records of a deceased cousin several years ago. The top of the page reads:
North Carolina Genealogy - Fall 1969, page 2412
My cousin wrote: 'Orange Co NC 1779 Tax List Quaker' at the top of the page.
The list begins with page 54 of a tax list. The page is 2 columns.
Then there is an entry on page 55:
Quakers who failed returning Lists of their Taxable property
John Stanfield 2720- is one name on the list
I don't know what the numbers mean. Is this total number of persons in the household, is this the tax paid, what?
On page 56: no mention of the Quakers. 2 names interest me:
Henry Holloday 1000-
Robert Holloday 600-
At the bottom of the page:
A true Coppy Test Nat. Roches??
(A total of 1,583 names - Editor)
Can anyone identify this publication? I think it's from an old Quarterly but I don't know which one, etc.
Thanks, Mary Bittick Gallano
