Paton/Payton Wilson and Michael Wilson?
Posted by: Jesse Stay (ID *****9785) Date: October 20, 2010 at 13:56:19

In searching Ancestry.com recently, I've noticed an increase in other family trees adding a "Michael Wilson" as the father of "Payton (or Paton) Wilson". None of them have any identifying records identifying the relationship. Paton was born about 1794 in Orange County, Paoli Township, North Carolina according to Census records. However, we have absolutely no record of who his parents are, or what happened to him after his marriage later on in life in Indiana.

I have a letter from a granddaughter of his that "claims" he says he was raised by a family with a name sounding like "horsey" or "korsey". I have nothing else to back that up though.

So, my question is, what are the best records for Orange County, Paouli, NC to match a parent with a child? I'd really like to solve this one but I admit, myself, and the rest of my family are stumped. There has to be an answer.

Also of note, the theorized "Michael Wilson", was born in Guilford, NC. There is nothing proving he's the father though (or adopted father).

Help!
