(about half-way down the page: "Robert when captured by the British during the Revolutionary war managed to escape. His father's will written in October 1782 implored him to return to the "plantation" and help care for his mother. In 1786 he married Lucy Debow the widow of Rev. John Debow and mother of sons Solomon and Stephen. They had daughters Elizabeth (Betsey), Jenny & Anne. However, the Federal Census for Orange County NC taken in 1800 showed but one Scobey household, That of Lucy, Records show Robert living in TX. he had a son born in 1801 in Brazoria County, Texas, wife unknown. This son who was also given the name Robert gained a permanent place in history as one of "The Texas Old 300", Stephen F. Austin's south Texas colony, the first Anglos families to settle in Texas. Robert's property as listed in 1840 consisted of some 10,000 acres ot land plus slaves and cattle."
