If you will contact the SYKES/SIKES FAMLY ASSOC, which is easily available on the web, you will find plenty of sources for information on your William, as well as James SYKES and Charlotte DELOATCH, who are prominent SYKES family members from North Carolina, whose children and siblings spread throughout Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, and the entire Southeast part of the country. Try to contact or look over the work of Dennis McGuire or Otis SIKES when you are at the Family Assoc site. My own family is James SYKES/SIKES b1759 Norfolk CO, VA, marrying and raising his family in Northampton & Halifax CO's, NC, before and just after the Rev War, before finally settling in Lincoln CO, TN with his wife and sons, Howell SIKES b1785 NC and Jesse SYKES b1792 NC, and daughter Lydia SIKES b1785 NC. The sons were married while the family was in Orange CO, NC, and each had a son there, James SYKES b1809 and Lemuel SIKES b1812. After passing through White CO, TN, the extend families of the SIKES/SYKES siblings, and "Old" James establish themselves near Fayetteville, Lincoln CO, TN by the 1820 Census and don't leave until after 1860. I have never been able to find James SIKES wife name, and would appreciate any help??
