William Carrigan b. abt 1735 , Elizabeth Brown Carrigan b. abt 1840. The following is from a transcription of an old family letter written by Carrie Carrigan Outhouse:
"Pas Grandfather William [Carrigan] and Grandmother Elisabeth came from Count Derry Ireland in the year 1766 with three boys. Edward, John and James. They started from Newry Ireland and landing in Philadelphia, PA. They lived there a short time. Then moved to Orange County, NC. Edward Carrigan married a few years after marrying he died and left a wife and three children. John Carrigan married Katherine Sample and moved to Illinois. James Carrigan married Jane Sample, sister of Katherine Sample and lived in NC and Tenn. All three boys were in the Revolutionary War. Edward was a private. John was a Commissary and James was a Captain". If anyone is familiar with this family please contact me, I am related to James and Jane Sample Carrigan. Ben
