Hi Elizabeth, Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I wanted to try my best to answer inteligently!

I am pretty confident that my Rebecca was a Petteway for the following reasons:

1. After her first husband, Lemuel Rhodes, died one of Lemuel's brothers, I believe it was Asa and Micajah Petteway witnessed her dower rights deed, contract, whatever the correct verbage is.
(Only two people, as opposed to when her second husband died and a dozen, including a couple of Aman's witness that dower right)

2. Two of Lemuel's brother's also marry Petteways:
Asa Hatch Rhodes marries a S. Petteway (haven't figured out who she is) and Edmund Hatch Rhodes married Catherine Petteway, daughter of Micajah and Sarah Petteway.

So I feel like I'm on the right path. I have to follow it until I find I'm wrong.
Any light you could shed on any of this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheryl
