I think this lists the John B. Morton that married Eliza(beth):

It's early in my research, but there may be three John Morton's instead of only two. A father and son with the same name.

I think the John Morton who was the son of West and Rachel Morton, married Cyrenne/Serena (Thomas) about 1865. Serena was the daughter of Marquis and Elizabeth Thomas of the Lower Richlands Township. Serena had an older sister (1 year) named Marinda. Serena married the older brother, John. Then, Marinda, the older sister, married the younger brother, Edward Westley Morton about a year later.

Rachel Morton (76yrs.) was living with Edward W. & Marinda Morton at the time of the 1880 Census. See http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/onslow/census/1880/153-29.gif ...about halfway down the page.
