I have two references to wills listing the son Grafton Walthrop. The first Northampton Co. document notes:
1792 Northampton Co. NC Wills: Michael Walthrop, Wife (not named). Mary, John and Grafton.
Then in another court reference the deceased is listed as Mitchell Walthrop: Graffan Walthrop was the son of one Mitchell Walthrop who died testate 1791 in Northampton County, NC.
I believe that Grafton's name is mispelled as Griffan Waldript in his marriage to Sally Barnes, bond dated 13 Feb. 1793, Greensville Co. VA. Sally Barnes was a sister to my second ggrandmother. I would like to visit with anyone researching this family. There are errors in a book titled, Greensville Co. Marriages. The marriage bond shows Sally Barnes as the bride to be, whereas the book shows her as Sally Barnes Rivers. The note to the Clerk of the Court giving permission for her daughter Sally to marry was signed by Susanna Barnes. William Rivers signed under Susanna's signature. William Rivers was also Surety for Grafton Waldrop. Does anyone know the relationship of the Rivers and Waldrop families? Was this family descended from Luke Waldrop?
I am also searching for records regarding Sally Barnes' father John Barnes Sr. He died in Greensville Co. VA between 1791 and 1793. I will be happy to share source documents on these families.
