Hi Kathryn, it's possible that we might be related. I have an ancestor by the name of Jacob Futch, born around 1814 in present-day Burgaw, Pender County, NC. (At the time of Jacob's birth, Burgaw was in New Hanover County). For the life of me, I cannot find anything about Jacob's parents!!

I do know that Jacob married a girl named Elizabeth "Betsy" Browning, and they had a number of children. I am a direct descendant of their oldest child, Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" Futch. I did notice in a census on that at one point, my Jacob was located next door to a man named John Futch, who was about 2 years Jacob's senior--as I recall John's wife was named Mariah Taylor. I have no proof but I'm wondering if my Jacob and this John Futch might have been brothers--or at least cousins???

I would love to exchange info with you!! :-)
