Neil, I suggest that you go to the campus there in New Hanover Co. (where I use to work) , and get to thelibrary, and look at the 4 or 5 books that list every unit in N.C.

My Great Grandfather , Lewis Whitfield Howard, was in Co. A of the 41st I believe was the no., "Camp Heath" located then in New Hanover, at "Scotts Hill" N.C. just southwest of Hampstead, N.C. where I now live, and have since the family got here in 1762 from Onslow...et. al.
Lewis W. Howard was a Lt. and was wounded at Petersberg, Va. on June 21, 1864.....I have all of this information. His horse killed, and he was hit in the leg....et. al.
If you know of anyone wishing information on the Howards of this Area....I have it solid back thru Jamestowne, Va. and on back for 39 generations, and will be glad to share it with anyone wanting it.... Its on my saved file, and I will have to e-mail it to you..... Jack Howard
