Thanks for the information Ottis. Do you know if Caintuck (Canetuck) was a town or just a region in Pender County? I know there is today a place along the Cape Fear River in Pender County named Caintuck's Landing. I was trying to identify the birthplace of my ancestor William E. Smith. According to our family records he was born Aug. 24, 1856 in Caintuck, New Hanover County. That part of New Hanover is Pender County today. Thank you, Ben
