In the name of god, Amen: I, John Bailey of Nash County and State of North Carolina, being in perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God for the same therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed once for all men to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a christian like manneer at the descrection of my executor. Nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give devise and depose of the same in the following manner and form. Item: I give to my beloved son HENRY BAILEY my negro fellow named WILL and five head of grone cattle and my rifle gun five head of grone hogs and the first colt that the mare I had of THOMAS JONES brings. Item: I devise to my beloved daughter DREWSELLER O'NEAL two hundred acres of land lying on both sides of the Green Branch in Johnston County and a negro boy called DUBLET and five head of grown cattle to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give to my beloved daughter PRISILLA CARTER two hundred acres of land in Johnston County in the Steep Hill Branch and Contentory Creek and one negroe boy called TOM and five head of grown cattle to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give to my beloved daughter CRISTIANY BAILEY, one negroe boy called ELLICK, one feather bed and furniture, five head of grown cattle to her and her heirs forever. Item: I devise to my beloved son JOHN BAILEY, the land and plantation whereon I now live lying in Nash County and a negro boy called BEN, my still, forty five head of cattle it being the ? plantation and a negro wench called, GIN, and fifty head of hogs and five head of horses and mares and all my working tools reserving the use of the foresaid articles to use of my loving wife JUDITH BAILEY during the time she continues my widow and after to the said JOHN BALEY and his heirs foreveer. Item: I give to my beloved daughter RUTH BALEY one feather bed and furniture and five head of grown cattle, forty pounds hard money at the rates of three dollars and a third to the pound. Item: I give to my beloved daughter CELIA BALEY one feather bed and furniture and forty pounds hard money at the rates of three dollars and a third to the pound and five head of grown cattle. Item: I give to my beloved daughter UNITY BALEY, one negro boy called JOE, one feather bed and furniture and five head of grown cattle. Item: I devise to my beloved son LEVY BALEY the land and plantation I bought of HENRY FINCH and HARDY BLACKWELL in Johnston County and eight head of grown cattle and forty pounds hard money at the aforesaid rates and one horse, bridle and saddle to him and his heirs forever and all the residue to my estate not particularly mentioned. I give to my wife during her widowhood and I hereby make and ordain my son HENRY BALEY and friend DAVID BALEY and my wife executor and executrix of this my last will and testament in witness whereof the said JOHN BALEY have hereunto set my hand and seal to this my last will and testament this 12th day of June one thousand seven hundred eighty one signed, sealed, published and declared to be his last will and testament in presence of us who was present at the time of signing the same.
