The father of William Jasper Johnson born November 1862 was William Johnson born abt. 1832 in NC and died June 27, 1862, in a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, from a wound he incurred from a Civil War Battle between his Confederate Company H, 12th Infantry Regiment and the Union. From the time that William enlisted and the time that he joined Company H, he and Millie produced William Jasper Johnson. He may have never known that he had a son. He also had a daughter, Martha born in about 1859. Millie married her neighbor Nathaniel Merritt Batchelor and had more children. William Jasper Johnson is my great-grandfather.
