Looking carefully at all the Federal Census records a person can conclude that Amos Bottoms had a very narow range of birth years (under the age of 10 in 1790).

If Amos was in the 1790 Federal Census in a Bottoms household then it could only have been in the household of Samuel L Bottoms (Sr) and I have concluded Amos was the son of Samuel and Samuel's second wife, Cela Pitman.

My conclusions are at HaightHortonHicks.com (homepage) which expires in July 2010.

Good luck.
