Jerry J Griffin and Carolyn Stone Griffin, Arringtons, Nash County, N Carolina

My great great grandfather was Jerry J Griffen born around 1837, married Caroline Stone (believe that was her maiden name)born around 1840. The 1860 census shows they were still living in Arringtons, North Carolina. They were living in Gonzales, Texas during the 1870 census. They had four children, Washington, Sidney (my great grandmother who later changed her name to Siddie), Fernie and Minnie.
There were several Griffins on the 1860 census page. I have not been able to track Jerry J's parents.
Any information provided to continue tracking the line would be appreciated.
Also, I have not found any further information on Washington past the 1870 census when he was 8 years old living in Gonzales, Texas.
