Many thanks for your kind offer, and for all the information you have shared. I'm not in NC. I'm an Arkansas descendant of a large number of families from old Edgecombe Co., several of which were in Nash Co. Though my Lindseys were in Edgecombe by the 1740s, and remained in Granville Co. up to about 1765, I am not a descendant of the Lindsey family in Nash Co.--unless it should turn out that Theophilus Odom's widow Dinah was a Lindsey, as I suspect she was.
I've collected information on the Lindseys in Nash Co., and have long thought there is some connection to my own Lindsey line, but the DNA studies undertaken by Lindsay/Lindsey families in North America and abroad haven't shown a connection. I have a pretty good idea that the Nash Co. Lindseys came down from Brunswick Co., VA, and are part of a family previously in Essex Co. My own Lindseys seem to have come to old Edgecombe from Spotsylvania Co., VA.
This is complicated to explain, but my Nash Co. connections are primarily on my mother's side of my family--not the Lindsey side (which is, of course, my father's). My mother's mother was a Batchelor, whose grandfather was born in Nash Co. in 1809. A biography of this man's (Moses B. Batchelor's) brother Dr. Wilson Bachelor in Franklin Co., AR, is the only certain source we have for their mother's name: it says that Moses and Wilson (and several other siblings) were children of Wilson and Alcie Odom Batchelor.
Wilson and Alcie Odom Batchelor left Nash Co., for TN about 1816, settling first in Maury Co. and then moving to the border of McNairy and Hardin Co. in West TN. They lived so close to the county line that they show up in records both counties. After Alcie died, in the winter of 1848, Moses and his family moved with his sister Hannah Delaney Batchelor and her husband Lawrence Cherry Byrd to Hot Spring Co., AR. Their brother Dr. Wilson Bachelor and another sibling, Sarah, remained in Hardin Co., TN, up to 1870, caring for Wilson Batchelor till his death in 1858, and then moving to Franklin Co., AR, in 1870.
I'm very interested in your book and would appreciate information about it. Thank you for the Odom and Lindsey information you've sent.
