Mary Morris Thomas, Nannie's sister, died in Greensboro in 1942 but was buried at Grace's Chapel Cemetery near Sanford. I suspect that was the family cemetery so it's possible that the family originated from the Moore County/Lee County area. On Nannie's death certificate, Chatham County is given as the county of birth for both her parents, but that may not be true. As you know, census data prior to 1850 does not include the names of the members of the household so it would be hard to track John Morris without knowing his father's name. And even so, if it's a common name, you may have multiple people in North Carolina with that name.
