Morrison/Russell migration to Alabama

I would like to connect Russell and Morrison branches in my family tree. My g5grandmother was Catherine Russell, b. 18 March 1765 in Mecklenburg, NC, d. 15 April 1839 in Selma, Dallas County, AL. She was the daughter of James Russell and Jean Carson. Catherine Russell married William Morrison, b. 25 March 1765 in Mecklenburg, and died 16 Sept 1839, Dallas County, AL. William Morrison served as a private in the Revolutionary War.

Their daughter, Jeanette R. Morrison, married David William Russell, b. 7 Jan 1778 in either Mecklenberg, NC, or Abbeville District, SC, and d. 15 Feb 1857 in Valley Creek, Dallas County, AL, son of William Russell, b. 1741 County Antrim, Ireland, d. April 1824, and Jeanette Roberson, 1743-1826.

Family tradition says that two large families of Morrisons and Russells migrated together across the South (from NC to AL and some later to MS) and married cousins of all degrees. I would like to know more about these two families and their exact connections in this branch. Any information on either family would be appreciated. Thanks!
