States: North Carolina: Mecklenburg
You may have seen this info, but in Mecklenburg Co. Wills index there is a listing for Sampson Gray, probably this older one and shows date of 1793. It is in the old index and states it is on page 45, but does not state the book. In the newer indexes it shows it to be in Vol C, pg 113, but when you go that that page it does show the beginning of his will, but page 114 has some kind of mix-up and shows a completely different will. The index does show Elizabeth as an Extrx and a John McCorkle as Extr and one heir named, Shared Gray.
In Mecklenburg deeds there is a deed filed in 1794 signed by Sampson Gray and Elizabeth Gray selling 200 acres on Waxhaw Cr. and there are several deeds in early 1800's by Shared Gray selling land on Twelve Mile Creek. Other Grays, with land on Twelve Mile Creek were a Jacob and Alexander. You may have already seen these names, but just thought I would pass them on to you as possible connections to your Sampson Gray.
